Results

International Danish Kazakh fishery project “From Kattegat to the Aral sea”- a fishery project

Date: 1998-2007

Aim

To revive the Aral sea by supporting sustainable fishery on the sea, improving of the social, economical and ecological well-beign of Aral fishermen and their families.

Results

  • creating of the fishery society “Aral Tenizi”,
  • there were registered juridical bodies, which work in the fishery sphere,
  • there was giving a support for professional fish catching on the sea,
  • there were created fish receiving stations (Tastubek, Bugun, Karateren, Akbasty).
  • there was established fish receiving Center “Kambala Balyk”,
  • the Small Aral sea was included to the list of fish catching water reservoirs of Republic of Kazakhstan in 2005.

Phases of the project

  • 1 phase – 1996-1998: prove that it is possible to revive the fish catches on the Aral
  • 2 phase – 1999-2000: creating of NGO “Aral Tenizi”, providing of fish cooperatives by catching gears and building up of a first fish receiving center in village Tastubek
  • 3 phase – 2000- 2004: supporting of fish-processing enterprisers, creating of the fish processing center “Kambala Balyk”
  • 4 phase – support: 2004-2005: building up of a capacity Aral Tenizi fishery society, organizing sustainable course of education of Aral fishermen on a necessarily themes (law, tax payment, technology of catches and fish storage, etc.)

Keeping of diversity of the lakes

Aim

To keep biodiversity of the lakes in Aral region.

Results

  • there was organized the order of using bio-resources in delta of the lake;
  • fishermen were attracted to catch from the Small Aral sea to decrease the anthropological influence from the lakes by the way of improving the sea infrastructure;
  • local population improved their ecological awareness participating in the activities to keep biodiversity of the lakes.

Project “Fishery Processing Center “Kambala Balyk” "From the sea to the Table”

Aim

to improve the quality of the fish caught from the sea.

Results

  • there were spend activities to improve the quality of the fish production;
  • product of the fishery Center “Kambala Balyk” became well-known among the wide circle of buyers thanks to its quality.

Assistance to Aralsk region

Aim

developing of ecological and social situation of fishermen of Aralsk region

Results

  • there was supported green-belting in Aralsk region;
  • there was improved the production capacity of fishery center “Kambala Balyk”.

Aim

to make marketing services in fishery Center “Kambala Balyk”

Results

  • there were spent marketing researches and made a data base of the buyers of Aral fish;
  • there was created and organized the work of marketing service of fishery Center “Kambala Balyk”.
